(1) January 1st of 1953 where Marines spent their New Years Day attacking

and destroying enemy bunkers in the hills of Korea.

War is Hell. The Korean War is known as the “Forgotten War”.
This is the story of the Army Infantry and Marine boots on the ground, as they saw it in color.
Battle began on June 25th of 1950 and raged until the bitter stalemate on July 27th of 1953…the photo above is a perfect example: it was taken towards the end of the war.

(6) Shortly after landing on “Red Beach” on Sept. 15 of ’50 to begin the “Battle of Inchon”,

a Marine named Baldomero Lopez was photoed as he scaled a seawall.

A few minutes after this photo was taken, Lopez was killed

after covering a live grenade with his body.

He was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor…

and his Marine buddies took back the city of Inchon from communist control.

(15) Joseph Roberts took this photo…the following happened later:
“He was a member of a night 30 man combat/ambush patrol.

After penetrating 1/2 mile into enemy territory, they ran into a North Korean patrol.

In the ensuing firefight, he was hit by a enemy bullet in the temple just behind his eye sockets.

He was rushed back to the front and choppered to a MASH unit, they saved his life,

but he would be blind for life. ”

(19) Yeah, that’s a Confederate flag on the M4…but trust me, on the issue of “color”,

skin tone did not matter during this war. They were all brothers. Period.
