The Korean War Slides of Lt Martin J. Small, US Army
A small set of slides taken (supposedly) in 1950-51 Korea by a US Army Artillery Officer.
They are a mix of Red border Kodachromes, and glass slides.
아래 포스팅은 한국전쟁이 발발한 1950-1951년 까지 美 육군 포병장교로 참전한
Martin J. Small 중위가 찍은 사진으로 촬영자의 설명이 없어 자세히 알 수없으나
여러가지 졍황으로 보아 낙동강전선에서 전투를 치르는 美軍들의 모습과
그 시절, 대구 부근의 일상적인 모습이 일부 담겨져 있다.

If they're all men, chances are they are not refugees, or displaced persons, that is, they're not part of families.
No uniforms, not even really any partial uniforms, so they are likely not soldiers; and no really good clothes either,
that is, mostly working stiffs, with maybe a few clerks; so my guess would be that these are conscriptees,
either voluntary or forcible, though I don't know if the South did forcible consciption like the North did.

상기의 (1), (2) 사진은 한국전쟁 당시(1950. 10), 중공군의 개입으로 이에 대하여 이승만정권이 제2국민병으로
편성된 <국민방위군>으로 소집된 만 17~ 40세의 민간인들이 훈련장소인 경남 진주로 이동하는 광경이다.
그러나 국민방위군의 간부들이 국고금과 군수물자를 부정처분하여 착복함으로써 보급품이 지급되지 못해 발생한 사고였다.
식량과 피복 등 보급품을 지급받지 못한 채 한겨울 장거리 행군을 감행하자 수만 명의 병력들이 영양실조에 걸려,

굶어죽는 사람들이 발생하고, 10년만에 찾아왔다는 강추위로 인해 동상에 걸려 얼어죽는 사람들도 속출하였다.
당시 사망자 수만도 90,000여 명에 이르렀다. 이 참상은 국회에서 폭로되어 진상조사단이 구성되었다.
국민방위군 간부는 김윤근, 윤익헌, 강석한, 박창언, 박기환 등으로
이들에 대한 공개 총살형이 51년 8월 12일 어느 야산에서 집행되었다.
