Pamir has a special position. It’s the most high-altitude region not only of Tajikistan but of all the former Soviet Union. Its Gorno-Badakhshanskaya autonomous region occupies almost a half of all the country but its population is only 3% from all the republic’s one.
Local citizens are officially considered to be Tajiks but in fact they are a group of peoples with their own languages, culture and even religion.
Khorog is bordering Afghanistan.
The town is inhabited by representatives of all Pamir peoples.
There are some universities here.
Locals like to study, it’s a part of their religion. Though the local young people prefer English today, they are good at Russian too.
Tourists like this place, there are many hotels and guest houses in the area.

Khorog 마을.
Khorog 마을 외곽. 세계에서 가장 높은 고원(高原)지대로서 고지대 식물이 자란다.
고원지대에서 녹지를 만드는 계획은 아주 중요하다.
고원지대여서 여름에 그다지 뜨거운 날씨는 아니지만 타지키스탄의 어린아이들은 수영하기를 좋아 한다.
강(江)은 급류가 흐른다.
Khorog 주민들은 서부 타지키스탄 주민과 비슷하지 않다. 오히려 남부 유럽사람들과 비슷한 공통점이 있다.
주민들은 남녀 모두 전형적인 모자를 쓰고 있다.
이곳의 여성 주민들은 서부 타지키스탄 여성들보다 더 자유를 누리고 있으며 미녀들이 많다.
