한참을 소리도 못내고 멈춰 서있었다. 이 사진을 에딘버러(National Gallery of Scotland)에서 마주하게 될 줄은 몰랐다. 내셔널갤러리에 이 사진이 걸려있을 줄 내 어찌 예상했겠는가. 숨을 가다듬고, 가만히 들여다보는 수밖에. 사진을 찍은 다음 날,  존레논은 광팬에게 살해당했다는. 그래서 더 가슴을 싸하게 쓸어내리게 하는 사진이다.  

In this comparatively simple portrait, Leibovitz relies on intimacy for effect. Her aim was to immortalise John and Yoko's deep love for one another. But within hours of taking this photograph John Lennon was shot dead. Distributed around the world as a 'Rolling Stone' magazine cover, the photograph was instantly transformed. It became a memorial to Lennon and a symbol of the vulnerability of human passion.

Edinburgh-born Sean Connery tried his hand at being a milkman, lifeguard, coffin-polisher and artists' model before the James Bond movies propelled him to stardom. Connery takes a lively interest in Scottish politics. He has also endowed the Scottish Education Trust with the profits of the film Diamonds Are Forever. Annie Leibovitz's photograph, which was made especially for the Scottish showing of her exhibition and as a gift to Scotland, expertly captures Sean Connery's contained strength and intelligence.

그녀의 인물 사진에는 모델의 매력이 담뿍 담겨있다.
영국에서 엘리자베스여왕의 사진을 찍을 때,
BBC다큐멘터리와 얽혀 시끄럽기도 했다.
애니가 엘리자베스에게 왕관을 벗어달라고 요구했는데 그 과정에서 오해가 약간.
(개인적으로 엘리자베스의 사진은 마음에 들지 않아 가져오지는 않았다.)
 
이야기가 샜다.
그녀의 사진이 상업적이냐 아니냐는 논란이 뭐가 중요한가.
보는이로 하여금 감동을 주는데.

그녀의 사진은 예술이다.
참 반가웠다. 당신의 시선.
