젊음이 가기 전에 학문에 힘써라 -권학편(勸學篇)

朱子曰(주자왈),
勿謂今日不學而有來日(물위금일불학이유래일)하며
勿謂今年不學而有來年(물위금년불학이유래년)하라.
日月逝矣(일월서의)라 歲不我延(세불아연)이니
嗚呼老矣是誰之愆(오호로의시수지건)고.


< 해  설 >

주자가 말하기를,
오늘 배우지 않고서 내일이 있다고 말하지 말 것이며,
올해 배우지 않고서 내년이 있다고 말하지 말라.
날과 달은 흘러가서 세월은 나를 위하여 더디 가지 않는다.
아! 벌써 늙었구나. 이것은 누구의 허물인고.

Don't say there will be tomorrow when you will learn what you have not learned today.
Don't say there will be next year when you will learn what you have not learned this year.
Days and months continue to go by without stopping.
Time and tide wait for no man.
Time flies like an arrow.
Oh, to my great surprise I have already become this old.
Who in the world has made me so old!
